Books vs. Music

So, went to see David Sedaris last night and going to see Sevendust at the Fillmore tonight. Wha?!

@notentirely

Thanks! (Hope all is well with you.)

It all came down to this.

Well people…the day finally came and went. Two months of nonstop work on our new house - all for our first housewarming party.

Key notes:
- Someone tried picking up broken glass with their bare hands. Fail.
- With all the food we had on hand, I barely got any.
- Got one of the new neighbors hammered. Success.
- The lawn got torched. That’s how we “adults” roll apparently.
- It’s after 2:00AM. That’s what we do in this neighborhood now people. Recognize.
- Above all else, the first party was a success - and I still managed to score a s’more. Boom!

The rhythm is going to get me.

So many good shows out there. I try to resist - but, the purchase of my latest ticket (for Mudhoney) pushed me to map out the past, present and future months to come.

Shows seen thus far:
Chevelle (March 14, 2013)
Eric Clapton (April 2, 2013)

Tickets purchased:
Sevendust with Coal Chamber (April 23, 2013)
Carolina Rebellion (May 5, 2013) (Soundgarden, Rise Against, Bush, Buckcherry and Nonpoint to name a few.)
Clutch (May 7, 2013)
Dave Matthews (July 24, 2013)
Mudhoney (September 25, 2013)

Shows I have to miss:
Anthrax
Imagine Dragons
Smashing Pumpkins with Awolnation
The Darkness
Summerland Tour (Everclear, Live, Filter and Sponge)
Fallout Boy (sold out)

Shows still on the table:
O.A.R.
Matchbox Twenty and the Goo Goo Dolls
Skid Row
Valient Thorr (The lead singer just makes me smile. If you ever saw them play, you’d understand.)
Bruno Mars with Fitz and the Tantrums (Naturally, I could do without Bruno Mars - but, Fitz and the Tantrums would be so much fun.)

Shows that were too much $$$:
Bob Dylan
Fleetwood Mac
Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band
(I saw Clapton for a fraction of the cost and had WAY better seats for it.)

Blue Tape.I keep coming up with different excuses as to why I have been absent for so long. It’s been everything from traveling to concerts - and lately, it has been all the work my girlfriend and I have taken on with the purchase of a new house. But, the REAL cause for my latest absence is this stuff: Blue tape. Honestly, it doesn’t matter what brand you buy. One way or another you are going to keep painting/edging until your arm falls off due to paint bleeding through it, under it and anything else you can think of. The only TRUE use for it has been for caulking (insert penis jokes here).
So, if you have seen a jump in stock value with ANY of the Blue tape companies - it has been due to me people. All due to me.

Eric Clapton - Sunshine of Your Love (Charlotte, NC 2013)

Eric Clapton - Cocaine (Charlotte, NC 2013)

Clapton.

LIfe may be busy and kicking my ass these days - but, I took a break from doing house chores to see Eric Clapton for the first time in many, many years. Needless-to-say: The show was damn good. (Thanks EC!)

NIN is playing Lollapalooza 2013 in Chicago on August 2nd. Here’s some footage from the very beginning - NIN at the first Lollapalooza show, in 1991. It didn’t go as planned.

On opening day, enjoy “Hitting Forty,” this week’s cover by Mark Ulriksen, as well as a slide show of baseball covers from our archives: http://nyr.kr/10p4Zc4

..stay classy.
btw — yankees just lost the game opener 8-2 to the red sox.

It’s going to be a long season. [sigh]
